Mica Hardware is proud to be a household name across the communities of South Africa. With each individual store being owned and run by the owner itself, Mica Hardware supports a model that lets our stores serve the needs of its unique community. One such store, with roots as old as Mica, is Ladybrand Mica in the Free State.

Jaco Terblanche is the proud owner of Ladybrand Mica, which was started as an independent store in 1982 by Jaco’s father, Fanie Terblanche, in a small space of 350m2.

Nine years ago, Ladybrand Mica converted to a Mica store. The Ladybrand community may be extremely small, but this Mica store knows best how to serve its community with all the hardware items they require to support individual and community projects alike.

Since becoming a Mica, Ladybrand Mica has seen new interest sparked in their store. “Being part of a brand creates excitement and curiosity and brings in extra feet”, says Jaco, “If it wasn’t for Mica, we wouldn’t have the variety we could choose from”, he says. “The association with a well-known brand has been really beneficial to us and our customers”.

Being part of Mica also allowed Ladybrand Mica recently to revamp their store and expand its range. The upgrade has made a huge difference to the store giving it a more professional and upmarket look.

Ladybrand Mica reports back that the community has great things to say about the new look and were excited to come and see the revamped store, which now sits at an impressive 1000m2 with extra roof space added.

Some of the helpful upgrades include the higher shelving and new, modern Gondola Ends where more stock can be stored and products can easily be displayed to customers. Jaco notes that a great advantage is that products can now be advertised to potential customers more clearly.

The newly revamped Ladybrand Mica recently celebrated its 40th birthday. Jaco was thrilled to share more about the celebrations, “I am extremely proud, not just for surviving 40 years, but extremely proud of my dad who laid the foundation and the right principles, and of course to Mica for their help along the way”.

Mica is proud to have Ladybrand Mica as part of our Mica family and we wish them all the success they deserve.

For the best service in Ladybrand, come to Mica and let us show you how!
