If your local Mica does not stock exactly what you need they will be able to order or suggest an alternative product or a reputable source.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project guide:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Difficulty: Beginner\/Novice<br \/>\nEstimated time: 6-8 hours<br \/>\nCost: R50-R100 depending on the size of the planter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol class=\"listStyles\">\n<li>First cut the two ends.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-1.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 1\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Bevelling the top corners of each end.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-2.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 2\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Mark off the depth of the sides against the end.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-3.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 3\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Cut the sides to your desired length.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-4.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 4\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Check that the sides and ends match.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-5.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 5\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Clamp the sides and ends together to hold them in position. Clamp them lightly together, so that you can still align the parts and once they are aligned, tighten the clamps.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-6.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 6\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Drill pilot holes for the 75mm screws  Using two per end  and countersink the holes so that you can seat the screws fully.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-7.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 7\" height=\"265\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>The completed box section.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-8.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 8\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Cut the two feet from another offcut; each foot estimated at is 270mm long.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-9.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 9\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>They are attached to the sides just inboard of the ends.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-10.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 10\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>You need to drill the pilot holes for the screws at an angle to match that of the sides  the pencil shows the angle. Then attach the feet using two 40mm screws per foot.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-11.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 11\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Support the 250 micron plastic in the middle and attach a 44 x 22 support beam to the top of the feet, as indicated, use one 40mm screw per end to secure it.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-12.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 12\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Give the inner surfaces of the planter a couple of coats of varnish to protect them from any moisture and once it is dry add the plastic liner. Clamp it in position as shown  about 20mm or so below the top edge of the sides.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-13.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 13\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Mark the position and then flip the sheet out of the planter and position the batten.  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-14.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 14\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>Use 20mm panel pins or a tacker, to attach a thin batten to the inner surface of the end. (see lower detail in the illustration)  <\/li>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.azipit.co.za\/mica2014\/wp-content\/themes\/mica-theme\/images\/rodBaker\/PLANTER-15.jpg\" alt=\"DIY Planter Image 15\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<li>The final result.
